Here you can step ashore straight into history: 1. Yttre Tistlarna: Long ago, the channel passing it was one of the most important in Northern Europe. Here is the last of the old generation of manned lighthouses. 2. Vinga: Famous lighthouse site which was one of the first to have a rock beacon and a pilot. Also one of the first islands to become Swedish. The Danes and the Norwegians made many attempts to regain control. 3. Brännholmsviken on Styrsö: Many traces of old stone cottages used by the coastal population during the fishing season. There are many like them along the coast. Abandoned churchyard from the sixteenth century, possibly the site of Styrsö's first church. 4. Rivö: Four burial sites for those killed in naval battles, for the drowned and for the victims of cholera. 5. Stora Äxholmen: Traces of old fishermen's huts of stone. The oldest may have been built in the Viking Age, some of them have been used into the twentieth century. 6. Klätten: One of the havens sought by the seafarers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries; also a seamen's burial ground.
