Here you can step ashore straight into history: 42. Stora Hejen and Storö: These are the islands furthest out in the west, extremely exposed to weather and wind. Between them lies Strömsundet, one of the sheltered old outports with rock carvings on both islands. 43. Fläskö: Here you will find the remains of old fishermen's huts. Between Gluppö and Fläskö is the Gluppö Basin, a favourite harbour of pleasure craft. From the east side you can see the picturesque buildings of Florö. 44. Kyrkogårdsön: Deserted island. "Formerly a burial ground", says a map of 1829. You can still discern traces of the graves and the old enclosure. 45. Måkholmen: Captivating island with beautiful sandy beaches, shingle banks and no less than four labyrinths, made of small stones. A site of old fishing rituals? 46. Klövskär: The channel between Klövskär and Otterön was a harbour for cargo vessels in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. 47. Stora Manholmen: Nineteenth-century cholera cemetery for the people of Grebbestad. 48. Kalvö / Lindö / Trossö: Enjoy the entrancing cultural landscape with its fine old houses, labyrinths, the little harbour, and the velvet green motor road which has never seen a car! |
